Fortuna-Kiosk

Here, the locals meet in the evening for Altbier. On warm summer evenings, many come by bike to the Kiosk "Fortuna-Büdchen", sit down on the quay wall or stand next to it. They meet friends, chat, watch the ships on the Rhine or the aircrafts on the approach to the airport, they enjoy the sunset and do not think about work or other stress. The only thing that bothers them are the sports car drivers, who occasionally give too much gas on the neighboring street Joseph-Beuys-Ufer. They are usually laughed at or ignored.

Especially popular is the Fortuna-Büdchen with the fans of Fortuna Düsseldorf, who go by bike to the stadium. Before home games here is often a stopover and they take a drink. Accordingly, the club logos of Fortuna Düsseldorf and the hockey club Düsseldorfer EG decorate the kiosk.

By the way, in the Rhineland, Büdchen is a special expression for a kiosk, you won't find anywhere else in Germany. Just as the People in Berliner have their "Späti" - which is as well a kiosk.

If you want to meet normal, nice and relaxed locals, you should visit the Fortuna-Büdchen in summer.
