MoreWhen the lecture hall becomes a cinema it's film festival time. Once a year students from Heinrich Heine University organize the Filmfest on campus. Several short movies are shown on three consecutive days. The audience and an expert jury can vote on which film they liked best.
Established in 2003
The film festival was established in 2003 and is now recognized not only nationally but also internationally. This is shown by the numerous submissions that come in every year. At the end of the day, the Filmfest team selects 20 to 25 short films from around 1,000 entries. Length: between 3 and 30 minutes. The editors of the most popular film under 15 minutes and the most popular film over 15 minutes receive 750 euros each. The expert jury also selects the best film. This prize is endowed with 1000 euros.
Live music and red carpet
As you might expect at a proper film festival, there is popcorn and other snacks, live music, merchandise and a red carpet! There are now 50 students working in the Filmfest team. They are all studying media and cultural studies in Duesseldorf and are organizing a really cool event! It's worth stopping by!
Admission is free!
Last but not least: there is no admission fee!
